Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan said GST would prove to be advantageous for the movie buffs. Additionally, according to the star, the uniform would help businesses too. Further, he explained that the 28% GST refers to uniformity. Eventually, the benefit would return to the consumers. To prove his point, he said the situation might not display the interest right now, however, in the long run, it will be beneficial for the consumers.
The benefit would return, not directly, however. The benefit would be indirect, said Shah Rukh Khan, in a promotional event Jab Harry Met Sejal.
In the past, different states had different tax rates. In some states, the rates were lower, while some applied higher rates. However, now with GST, there will be only one tax, and this would benefit the business in the long run. It would take time, Shah Rukh admitted, but the country would settle down and enjoy the benefit of the taxation.
GST Council has come up with two different tax rates for the film tickets. 18% tax rate for the tickets costing below Rs 100 and 28% tax would charge for the movie tickets that cost over Rs 100.
Shah Rukh Khan’s arrival delayed because of the injury which the actor incurred on the promotional event of Jab Harry Met Sejal. However, the actor apologized to his fans on Twitter saying that he had to undergo medical checkup due to the injury and therefore, he was late for the promotional event of the most recent SRK starrer.
